Arsenal remain keen on West Brom defender Jonny Evans and could offer £25m plus Mathieu Debuchy to sign him, but Albion manager Alan Pardew wants a quick deal.

Evans continues to be a target for both Arsenal and Manchester City and could be on the move in January. According to Simon Stone, Arsenal are very keen to do a deal and could offer £25m plus Mathieu Debuchy.

West Brom are reportedly keen on signing Debuchy, so they could be receptive to the offer.

Manager Alan Pardew has admitted that the Midlands club already have a replacement for Evans lined up, and would prefer a deal to be done quickly so they aren’t in limbo.

“As it stands at the moment there is no bid for Jonny, but if a bid comes in that is acceptable to the club we are ready to go and move if we need to,” he said.

“It would be naïve not to have that plan in place. Hopefully, if it does happen, it will happen earlier rather than later for us.”

With West Brom wanting a quick resolution and City still sniffing about, Arsenal will have to move fast. The 30-year-old could provide valuable cover for Arsene Wenger’s side, I feel.

Laurent Koscielny cannot play every game anymore, while Per Mertesacker, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers have struggled to convince recently. That leaves Shkodran Mustafi, who’s unreliable himself, and Nacho Monreal as Arsenal’s best options at the moment.

Evans left Manchester United in 2015 and has made 85 Premier League appearances for West Brom.
