Arsenal have reportedly set up a meeting with Bordeaux to discuss the transfer of Brazilian forward Malcom.

The Brazilian is drawing plenty of interest at the moment. Manchester United and Tottenham are two other Premier League clubs who reportedly want him, but Di Marzio says the Gunners have a meeting today to try and negotiate a move.

The report claims the 20-year-old would cost around £50m. Malcom is having an encouraging season in Ligue 1, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 21 appearances.

Considering the winger’s age and Bordeaux’s position in the table (15th), it’s impressive he’s still helping the team get so many goals. Arsenal are in pretty dire need of some decent attacking options too, so their reported pursuit of Malcom makes sense.

Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez could both leave this summer, or sooner, while Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck just haven’t been good enough this campaign and could do with replacing.

Walcott’s future with the Gunners isn’t guaranteed either, so Arsene Wenger will need to find somebody to take his place. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal are willing to splash out on someone who is relatively unproven at the top level, however, but he certainly has the potential.
