Liverpool are expected to rival Arsenal for Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez when they lose Philippe Coutinho, according to reports.

Arsenal could face even more competition for Riyad Mahrez.

According to L’Equipe (via 101 Great Goals), Liverpool are the latest side to register an interest in the winger.

They could target him when Philippe Coutinho leaves for Barcelona.

Mahrez’s form has improved under new Leicester manager Claude Puel.

Before then, he was struggling to make an impact in games and putting in inconsistent performances.

The Algerian asked to leave Leicester in the summer transfer window.

However, Leicester fought hard to keep hold of their best player.

Arsenal have been linked with Mahrez for a long time, and could finally make an effort to sign him if and when Alexis Sanchez leaves.

Unfortunately, they’re not going to be the only club in need of an attacker in the summer.

Liverpool will also need one when they lose Coutinho and will have an obscene amount of money to secure him.

101 Great Goals also lists Tottenham, Chelsea, Paris St. Germain, Roma and Barcelona as clubs who could be interested in him.

It would be wise for the club to have a few backup targets in mind in case Mahrez decides to go elsewhere, especially given his confusion over Arsenal’s approach last summer.
