Chuba Akpom looks set to move out on loan to Belgian side Sint-Truidense VV before the January transfer window closes, according to reports.

Akpom has had very few opportunities to impress in the first-team this season and could be about to go on his sixth loan spell as a result.

According to HBVL, Jupiler Pro League side Sint-Truidense VV want to bring a striker in by the end of the January window and are targeting Akpom. Talks between the clubs are ongoing and have been positive.

The move would be an unorthodox one for Akpom, who has spent much of his young career with teams in England’s lower divisions. He’s had spells with Brentford, Coventry, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Hull.

The problem he’s had is that he’s only scored seven goals across all those loans. The 22-year-old looked a very promising player in the u23s, but has been surpassed by other talents.

Surprisingly, he stuck around this season and has managed two appearances off the bench in the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. A move to Belgium might give him a fresh start and a chance to impress away from England. He’s contracted at Arsenal until 2019.
