Akpom has joined STVV on loan until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has struggled for game time with Arsenal’s first team and, after being at the club his entire career, moving else where is probably his last chance to get experience.

Most of us were just assuming it would be a permanent move…

This isn’t the striker’s first loan spell. He’s already been sent out to Brentford, Coventry, Nottingham Forest and Brighton. Therefore, you do have to wonder whether Arsenal genuinely reckon this time he’ll improve enough to play in their first team when he returns.

This season, Akpom’s made just two appearances for the Gunners’ first team and six for the u23s.

Good luck to Chuba. Hopefully, he gets plenty of minutes under his belt and returns ready to put pressure on our first team strikers.
