West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew has been open about the possibility of Jonny Evans leaving the club this month.

Arsenal and Manchester City have both been linked with Evans, who has just 18 months left on his contract with West Brom and apparently isn’t willing to extend.

The Daily Telegraph claim the Baggies will now accept £20m for the 30-year-old but Pardew has revealed that if a ‘big’ club does come in, they’re far more likely to be successful if they call up this weekend as opposed to Tuesday – the day before the transfer window closes.

“If we can do business and the bid is acceptable, we’ll do the business, whatever time it is. But the longer you leave it, the more difficult it is for the club to purchase,” said Pardew.

“None of the top clubs are looking to help anyone, they’re looking to help themselves. If they ring up late Tuesday they’re probably not going to get the response they want.

“If they ring on Saturday or Sunday, they’ll get a nicer response. We’ve made clear over the last couple of weeks that we’d be really foolish if we haven’t got a game plan in place to counter losing Jonny Evans or not losing Jonny Evans. Obviously the less time you leave it, the less chance you have of bringing someone in.”

Pardew allegedly wants to sign Watford striker Troy Deeney with the money West Brom get for Evans. If Arsenal leave it too late to sign their skipper, the Baggies could miss out.

Arsenal are reportedly willing to offer £10m plus Mathieu Debuchy instead of the full £20m, which might play its part in West Brom’s decision-making. The S*n claim West Brom want over £25m however the Telegraph have proven themselves to be far more reliable than most when it comes to Arsenal rumours.

When asked about the Gunners’ interest in Evans just over a week ago, Arsene Wenger seemed to hint that the deal was dead.

However, since then, reports that Arsenal are indeed signing Evans have begun to circulate again.

West Brom are said to have reached an agreement with Egyptian side Zamalek for centre-back Ali Gabr, who will apparently be moving to the club on loan in order to replace Evans.
