As the alleged details of Alexis Sanchez’s massive Manchester United deal emerge, it’s becoming increasingly clear as to why he chose them over City.

According to the BBC’s Simon Stone, Alexis would still prefer a move to Manchester City but the terms of United’s offer were just too ridiculous good to say no to.

While speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport, Stone explained exactly how the Chilean’s reported wages are broken down.

For starters, the 29-year-old, who only has six months left on his contract at Arsenal, will allegedly receive £14m-a-year in wages – after tax. That works out as just under £270,000 per week, which is £20,000 less than Paul Pogba and means United are forking out around £500,000 before tax.

The Telegraph (£) actually claim Alexis is bringing in £350,000-per-week, which is simply astonishing if true and would put him level with Lionel Messi.

The forward’s agent Fernando Felicevich is reportedly receiving £10m – or £12m according to the Telegraph – in fees.

Add to that the £30m transfer fee United are said to be handing Arsenal and a £20m signing on fee, and the Red Devils will reportedly be forking out around £180m in total for Alexis over the course of his four-and-a-half year contract.

While Alexis probably does want to leave Arsenal for footballing reasons, his motivation for moving to the red side of Manchester seems to have little to do with them.

The deal is reportedly set to go ahead any day now with Henrikh Mkhitaryan potentially heading to north London.
