Arsène Wenger will face up against Roy Hodgson for the first time since 2012 on Thursday night, and his head-to-head record with the Palace boss will give Arsenal confidence of coming out on top.

Since Wenger joined the Gunners, Hodgson has managed five different English clubs. First he was in charge of Blackburn Rovers, then Fulham 10 years later, followed by Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion.

Now he’s the manager of Crystal Palace, but Wenger hasn’t faced the 70-year-old with his new club yet. Over the previous 12 meetings, the Arsenal boss has come out on top seven times. Meanwhile, the Englishman’s side have won twice. The last of those victories was with Fulham in 2008, with the first being back in 1997.

So, on the one hand, Hodgson doesn’t get the better of Wenger particularly often. On the other hand, he’s due for his one win per decade. One thing we can be relatively sure of, is that Arsenal will score. The Gunners have netted in 10 of the 12 matches between the two managers.

The Croydon-born boss spent much of the last five years managing the England national side, hence the gap between meetings. But he’s doing well on his return to club football, as Palace haven’t lost since the 5th November. Hopefully Wenger can keep up his good record against Hodgson, whilst ending that unbeaten run at the same time.
