Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Theo Walcott is now 100% fit and will play against West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Theo has been sidelined with a minor groin injury for a couple of weeks… Not that many people noticed since he’s not made the Premier League squad since 5 November… But Wenger insists that the forward is now ‘100% fit’ and will face West Ham in the League Cup on Tuesday.

Theo has only made 11 appearances for Arsenal this season and one of those was in the Community Shield. Although he’s done pretty well in the Europa League, netting three goals and providing five assists, he’s yet to get the nod in the Premiership. In fact, he’s played just 46 minutes over three appearances.

Therefore, when the 28-year-old does get the nod in the League Cup, he’ll probably be out to prove a point, as well as play for a move.

I think the Englishman knows that, with the World Cup next year, he really needs to make an impression if he’s going to get picked by Gareth Southgate and that’s not happening if he’s not even in the Arsenal squad.

Theo has just 18 months left on his contract and I imagine Arsenal will want to cash in on him rather than allow him to go on a free. The fact that he’s English works in our favour as English players often go for slightly more.

Just look at Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. How we managed to get Liverpool to pay £40m for him I’ll never know.
