Arsenal reportedly face another battle to keep hold of two more senior players: Aaron Ramsey and Danny Welbeck.

According to the Times (£), Ramsey and Welbeck are currently refusing to sign new Arsenal deals despite both players allegedly being open to staying.

The pair apparently don’t want to be rushed into putting pen to paper on new contracts while there’s so much uncertainty surrounding the club, which means they’re potentially putting off negotiations until next summer.

With Arsenal currently in the Europa League and struggling to regain a top four position, the two internationals reportedly want to wait and see what happens. They’re also allegedly unhappy with how much the club have offered them.

Ramsey and Welbeck both have 18 months on their existing deals, which means that if they don’t sign extensions soon, Arsenal could be looking at another two senior players running into their final year.

At present, we’ve already got Alexis Sanchez swanning about with just six months left on his deal and the Chilean almost certain to leave on a free at the end of the season. Mesut Ozil, who also has until the end of the season, is said to be signing a new contract soon but this is a story that seems to pop up every few months. And Jack Wilshere, who’s apparently yet to be offered an extension despite actually wanting to stay.

If it’s true that we’ve got two more players reluctant to remain at Arsenal, we’ve got problems.

Hopefully, former Barcelona director of football Raul Sanllehi will be able to help as chief of negotiations when he officially starts in February.
