Taulant Xhaka is happy his brother is having a career abroad, but is not envious of him.

Taulant Xhaka currently plays for Basel, having come through their academy set-up at the same time as his younger brother, Granit.

While Granit Xhaka went on to join Borussia Monchengladbach and then Arsenal, Taulant has remained at Basel.

Asked by Basellandschaftliche Zeitung if he envied his brother’s career, Taulant said: “I heartily exult Granit his career and am very happy for him, but I do not feel envy.”

[note: Original – 2Ich gönne Granit seine Karriere von Herzen und freue mich sehr für ihn, aber Neid empfinde ich nicht.” Google translated part of this as ‘I heartily begrudge Granit’ which clearly did not fit the content and was altered accordingly]

Granit Xhaka left Basel for Gladbach in 2012 and was a vital part of the team that returned to the Champions League.

His impressive performances in Germany earned him a move to Arsenal in 2016, but not everything has been well during his time in England.

He had a rough start to his Arsenal career as a couple of bad tackles earned him red cards, but he improved as the season went on.

This season, though, he’s been performing poorly, with some fans suggesting Arsene Wenger is using Xhaka wrong when compared to how he was deployed in Germany.

While things aren’t going too well at club, Granit’s Switzerland did manage to qualify for the World Cup in the summer.

Taulant’s Albania, on the other hand, failed to qualify after finishing third in a group with Italy and Spain.
