If you watched Alexis Sanchez’s display against Southampton on Sunday afternoon, you’ll know that he didn’t exactly perform to the best of the ability, and these stats prove it.

Alexis lost possession 32 times, which is the second-highest amount from an Arsenal player this season. Worryingly, the highest amount of times a Gunner has lost the ball this term is 34. And that was the Chilean as well. Against Manchester United.

The 28-year-old, who’s known for being the strongest dribblers in the league, completed zero at St. Mary’s. He attempted one but that was in stoppage time.

Alexis has been poor this season since his move to Manchester City fell through over the summer, despite everyone claiming that he’s really professional etc etc. And his performance against the Saints summed up his attitude during the previous 15 games.

Alexis is great at conjuring a ‘moment of brilliant’ when he knows we could actually be about to lose. For example, he assisted Olivier Giroud’s 88th-minute equaliser on Sunday. But where was he for the other 85 minutes after Charlie Austin put the home side 1-0 ahead?

What’s he doing being so wasteful and shouting at other players for his mistakes when we’re chasing a result?

His strop – or whatever this is – grew old a long time ago.
