Arsenal somehow managed to earn a point against Liverpool despite being 2-0 down at half-time but did we actually learn anything?

Arsenal’s first half against Liverpool was nothing short of shambolic. The Gunners were 2-0 down at the break and while we knew we had it ‘all to play for’ in the second half not many people actually thought we could bounce back.

It’s nice to be wrong sometimes.

Goals from Alexis Sanchez and Granit Xhaka, who were both poor apart from this, and Mesut Ozil managed to put Arsenal ahead 3-2 within minutes. Although Roberto Firmino netted a second later in the second half, we earned a well-fought point when no one thought we could.

However, we still have such a long way to go and we can’t just sweep that first half performance under the carpet.

Here’s six things we learned from Arsenal’s roller coaster clash against Liverpool.

We need Aaron Ramsey

Ramsey is one of those players, much like Santi Cazorla, that you don’t quite realise how good they are until they’re not on the pitch.

Although the Welshman has the odd spectacular match, most of the time, he’s just a calming present in the middle of the park, gently driving play forward and helping us keep some shape. Without him, that drive’s gone and we really struggle.

Just like we did against Liverpool.

And he’s not back until January…
