Bacary Sagna is still a free agent, after his contract with Manchester City expired over the summer, but he hopes to find a new club in January.

Sagna moved from Arsenal to City on a free transfer in 2014, hoping for trophy successes but he’s never reached the heights of his spell with the Gunners.

The 34-year-old won one League Cup, whilst Wenger’s side won two FA Cups and two Community Shields.

Then Guardiola decided to release the full-back, and he hasn’t found a new club since.

Since he left City, the media have linked Sagna with Lazio, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Wolfsburg and Leicester City. But nothing’s come of any of the rumours.

Perhaps teams are concerned about the defender’s lack of game time. Obviously he’s not playing at the moment, but even in 2016/17 Sagna appeared in fewer than half of City’s league games.

In November, the Express linked the French international to Chelsea. They said Antonio Conte was keen in the summer, but the deal didn’t end up happening, and Chelsea signed Zappacosta.

Sagna said he’s just keeping fit ahead of the January transfer window.

I’m not sure what the former Gunners’ is demanding in terms of wages, but personally I think Arsenal should make him an offer.

As long as the Frenchman’s willing to accept decreased wages, he could be useful as a back up.

Especially if Debuchy gets his way and leaves.
