Real Madrid are interested in Alexis Sanchez, and are starting to consider him as their primary target over Mauro Icardi, according to reports in Spain.

Don Balon write that Madrid think an offer of £26.5m would be enough to convince the Gunners to let go of the Chilean, with just six months left on his Arsenal deal.

That would be significantly cheaper than what Inter Milan want for Mauro Icardi. The Argentine is the top scorer in Serie A, playing for the league leaders and is also the club captain. He’s 24 years old, and has a contract lasting until 2021, with a release clause around £100m.

icardi

Inter don’t appear keen to let Icardi leave the club, especially for as low as Alexis may mve for next month. Arsenal would probably count themselves lucky to be getting anything at all for Alexis, considering his contract, age and current form.

Of course, the Arsenal man would have to betray his Barcelona past to move to Madrid, but considering his willingness to move to one of Arsenal’s Premier League rivals, that shouldn’t be a big issue.

Alexis has four goals and three assists in 13 league appearances for the Gunners this season. He’s been far from at his best for the majority of the campaign.

But Madrid are having their own troubles in attack, as no one in their entire squad has more than four league goals for the campaign.
