Steven N’Zonzi may end up staying at Sevilla, after the Spanish club sacked manager Eduardo Berizzo.

N’Zonzi has regularly been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks, but the Mirror claim that move could be affected by the sacking.

Sevilla parted company with Berizzo just before Christmas, after he returned from a prostate cancer operation in November.

He only lasted six months in charge of the fifth-placed La Liga side. It all seems pretty harsh on the manager, considering they are still unbeaten at home in the league. However, N’Zonzi may well find a route back to the team now as a result.

As we reported at the start of the month, the Frenchman fell out with management after Sevilla’s game against Liverpool. Since then, the 29-year-old hasn’t played a single minute for the side. Berizzo didn’t even name the midfielder on the bench, and allowed him to travel to London to visit family.

N’Zonzi admitted that his future is somewhere other than Seville, and seemed certain to leave in January. But now, under new management, there’s always a chance the two parties could reconcile.

We’ll have to wait and see what impact this latest development has.
