Manchester United will make an offer for Mesut Ozil in January, believed to be around the £22m mark.

Ozil has been heavily linked with United since the start of the season as the Red Devils’ need for a quality number ten becomes more pressing.

Amid talk of them signing the German international in the summer when he’s out of contract, Don Balon report that the club could make an offer between £17m and £22m in January.

They say manager Jose Mourinho is keen to add Ozil to his squad as soon as possible in a bid to catch Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Rumours of Ozil joining United have come from his relationship with Mourinho. The two worked together at Real Madrid and were said to have a lot of professional respect for each other.

It so happens that United’s current attacking-midfielders, namely Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata, haven’t performed as well as they’d like this season.

Arsenal could have a choice to make in the January transfer window as a result. Arsene Wenger hasn’t ruled out selling either Ozil or Alexis should the right offers arrive.

However, the two have been performing very well recently, and finding replacements in January would be a tough ask.
