Takuma Asano largely endured an afternoon to forget, while Lucas Perez became the second Arsenal loanee to reach 1,000 minutes of playing time this season.

Asano started Stuttgart’s match against Werder Bremen on Saturday, but found himself hooked off before the hour mark.

The 23-year-old scored the only goal the previous week against Hannover, but he struggled to make a similar impact this time round, as his side fell to a 1-0 loss.

Later in the day, Lucas Perez started for Deportivo La Coruna as his side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sevilla. He played the full 90 minutes, which brought him to 1,000 minutes for the season, but all he had to show for this was a yellow card.

Deportivo stayed one place above the relegation zone in 17th, and a win for 18th-placed Las Palmas cut the gap between the clubs to just two points. That win was against Joel Campbell’s Real Betis, but Campbell was still unfit to take part in the action.

Marc Bola, who has racked up the most minutes for Arsenal loanees this season, was left out of the Bristol Rovers’ 2-1 win against Rotherham. Stephy Mavididi continues to miss out for Preston North End with injury. His side beat Queens Park Rangers 1-0 in his absence.

Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall played no part in Birmingham City’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield United. Emi Martinez was an unused substitute in Getafe’s 10-man win over Valencia.

Kelechi Nwakali was also unused on the bench as VVV-Venlo lost 2-0 to AZ Alkmaar.
