Alexandre Lacazette has revealed that the North London Derby in November was one of his highlights of 2017.

No one expected Arsenal to get anything from the first North London Derby of the season, let alone win it 2-0 with goals from Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis Sanchez.

However, the Gunners played Spurs off the pitch and the atmosphere was clearly memorable for Arsenal’s new boy, Lacazette.

“It was a great experience,” he said. “I was eager to experience that game because, within 10 minutes of arriving at the club people had told me about it and said that it was a game to win both for the club and for the fans.

“I also felt that from the fans because, even two weeks before I could feel the pressure from those who were already talking to me about it. It was a good positive thing. I had this experience in my former club so it was good.”

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals and assisted four in 20 Premier League appearances this season.

While the striker’s tally was far higher than that during his last campaign at Lyon, scoring 37 goals in 45 appearances by May, we play a different style of football at Arsenal. Instead of being the main man, as most Gooners thought our new £52m signing would be, Lacazette has been helping others score and working on his hold-up play.

It’s good because he’s getting into the right positions and looking sharp.

However, it still seems a little odd to some, myself included, that not only can Arsenal’s record signing not get a full game under his belt for love nor money, he’s also not getting the service you’d think Arsene Wenger would demand.

Surely, if a club spends that much money on a player, you’d want all your other players to be constantly giving him the ball, not the other way around.

Who knows what’s going on in the boss’ head these days? At least seems Lacazette happy at the moment, is enjoying his football and loved beating Spurs.
