Unai Emery has praised Julian Draxler for his performances this season and believes the Arsenal-linked forward is “a very important player” for Paris Saint-Germain.

Draxler was expected to fade out of the first-team picture at PSG after the arrivals of Neymar from Barcelona and Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.

However, the 24-year-old has been very involved this season, starting nine of their 16 Ligue 1 matches and making a further four appearances off the bench.

While that hasn’t killed speculation that he could move to Arsenal or Liverpool in January, it shows that manager Unai Emery values Draxler as a part of his squad.

“He’s in a constant evolution and he still has a lot of energy,” Emery told Sky Sports, reports the Metro. “At PSG, Draxler is in very good hands, he’s a great contributor to our game, he’s learning a lot.

“I talk to him a lot and I’m very demanding with him and he’s one of those very ambitious players and he shows that with good performances, also for the national team, and he’s a very important player for us.”

Draxler was linked yet again with a move to Arsenal during the summer. At the time, he was seen as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

However, the German was excited by PSG’s summer business and wanted to play with the likes of Neymar, despite being in direct competition with the Brazilian.

Reports of him moving have resurfaced as the January transfer window draws nearer.

It seems as if PSG and Draxler are happy with each other at the moment, and that neither are planning for a move next month.
