David De Gea said he felt unbeatable against Arsenal on Saturday, despite still not being able to keep a clean sheet against them.

The Spaniard was in top form and Saturday and almost single-handedly kept Manchester United in the game.

It’s remarkable to say that when United scored three goals on the day, but such was Arsenal’s dominance that De Gea had to make a number of big saves to protect their lead.

Speaking after the game, De Gea said he had a good feeling after the first big save. “Sometimes, you just start a game with a really good save, with a good feeling, you feel that [unbeatable],” he said, as reported by the Metro.

De Gea faced such a deluge of shots that not even he could keep all of them out. Arsenal did manage to find a way past him thanks to Alexandre Lacazette, but should have scored more.

In fact, De Gea’s heroics on Saturday look less impressive when you look at his past record against Arsenal. In 14 games against them, he’s kept just two clean sheets.

Saturday was the seventh time he had been on the winning team against Arsenal, but yet another game he failed to keep them out. It perhaps shows that Arsenal’s finishing simply hasn’t been good enough in those games.

De Gea is a world-class goalkeeper, but he’s not unbeatable by any means. Regardless of how well he played, we should have scored more on Saturday.
