Arsenal could face competition from Chelsea for Udinese’s 21-year-old midfielder Jakub Jankto, according to latest reports.

Jankto is having a decent season for Udinese, scoring five goals in 15 appearances in all competitions. Arsenal were linked with the 21-year-old during the summer, but a deal didn’t happen.

They’re still interested in the midfielder, but according to Corriere dello Sport via The Sun, Chelsea are also interested in signing him. Jankto apparently has a £6m release clause, which is more than affordable for both sides.

In fact, you’d have to question how serious Arsenal’s interest is if a deal fell-through in the summer as The Sun have reported.

The Czech Republic international is a central midfielder by trade, but has played almost entirely on the left for Udinese this season. He emerged last season as an exciting talent, as he made 30 appearances and scored five goals.

While his performances have been good this season, Udinese are currently struggling in 14th place in Serie A. AC Milan and Juventus are also said to be interested in his signature.

On the surface, it seems that there’s nothing that would prevent Arsenal from signing if they really wanted him.
