Charlie Austin is looking forward to continuing his good form with a goal when Southampton lock horns with Arsenal on Sunday.

Austin has scored seven times in 10 games in all competitions this season, and is looking ahead to keeping up his good form when Southampton take on Arsenal.

“I feel good. I’ve got more momentum, more game time and I’m helping the team,” he told the Daily Echo. “As a striker you want to play, you want to keep scoring goals, putting in performances for the team and luckily I’m doing that at the moment.”

The striker has two goals in two starts against Arsenal. They both came during the 2014/15 season while he was playing for Queen’s Park Rangers.

Arsenal won both games 2-1, however, with Austin grabbing the consolation on both occasions. We’ll see if this is just coincidence or whether it’s indicative of something else.

Austin has a good chance of making it three in three against Arsenal due to their recent record at St Mary’s. Southampton have won two of their last three home meetings in the Premier League.

Arsenal did win there twice last season, however, thrashing the Saints 5-0 in the FA Cup, and enjoying a 2-0 win in May. That win was Arsenal’s first league win at St. Mary’s since Southampton returned to the Premier League in the 2012/13 season.

It’s not been a kind ground for Arsene Wenger’s men. Southampton will surely give us another tough game on Sunday as a result.
