Barcelona could rival Arsenal for CSKA Moscow midfield Aleksandr Golovin, according to reports.

Golovin is one of Russia’s more exciting prospects and could soon make a big move.

According to Marca, the midfielder is on Barcelona’s shortlist of potential January signings, along with fellow Arsenal targets Leon Goretzka and Nabil Fekir. The 21-year-old had been linked with Arsenal in the summer. He’s also been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger asked agent Sandor Varga to run the rule over Golovin ahead of a possible transfer.  Meanwhile, Barcelona have also been keeping an eye on him, according to Sport. It appears there’s a lot of interest in the playmaker.

Arsenal could soon face a shortage in midfield as a number of players could leave. The contract situations of Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil remain unresolved. The two could leave for free at the end of the season.

There are also continuing doubts about whether Santi Cazorla can recover from his achilles injury. Golovin is a young and exciting prospect who could come in as a replacement for one of those players.
