Fenerbahce are still hopeful they can sign Jack Wilshere, and can sign a pre-contract deal in Janaury unless Arsene Wenger makes a breakthrough in talks.

Wilshere has an uncertain future at Arsenal due to his contract expiring in the summer. He was linked with a move away from the club during the summer, and with the January window days away, those links are about to resurface.

One club who are interested in him are Fenerbahce. According to Sabah via Aksam, the Turkish club want to add a star player to their midfield. They want Wilshere to be that player, and are hopeful of doing a deal after positive talks with his representatives.

The report suggests the 25-year-old wasn’t interested in a move to Turkey, but is now more open to the possibility as he wants to leave Arsenal. However, Sabah’s claims contradict what the midfielder himself has been saying recently.

Wilshere has said numerous times that he would love to stay at Arsenal. The issue was his lack of playing time in the first-team. While he was a regular in the club’s Europa League and Carabao Cup games, that wasn’t enough to get back into Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Recently, though, he’s returned to playing in the Premier League. Aaron Ramsey’s injury against Southampton gave Wilshere the chance to come into the side. He played 90 minutes against West Ham and Newcastle, and is due to start against Liverpool on Friday.

Those starts will go a long way towards convincing him to stay. There was some confusion over Wilshere’s contract situation recently. Arsene Wenger said that talks would start in December, but clarified that he meant the end of December.

Wilshere has looked good whenever he’s played this season, so hopefully a new deal can be sorted out soon.
