Arsenal’s chief commercial officer Vinai Venkatesham has joined the British Olympic Association as an independent non-executive director.

Venkatesham will offer a wealth of experience to the British Olympic Association as a new director, according to Sports Pro Media.

The BOA is the National Olympic Committee for Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Sir Hugh Robertson, the chairman of BOA, had this to say on the appointment: “Vinai brings to the board an established track record from both LOCOG and Arsenal.

“His excellent commercial background, coupled with his knowledge of digital marketing, can only be of great benefit to us. I very much look forward to working with him.”

Venkatesham joined Arsenal in 2014 and has had a hand in several of the commercial partnerships the club has formed since then.

The most recent partnership was with money transferring service WorldRemit.

Other recent partnerships include insurance company Cover-More and game developers KONAMI.

As the chief commercial officer, his role encompasses all commercial activities, including sponsorship, strategy, ticketing and retail, amongst others.

He’s also a member of the board of Arsenal Broadband Limited, which owns the rights to all of Arsenal’s media content.

He was previously a part of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 and was a non-executive director at the London 2017 World Athletics and World Para Athletics Championships.
