Arsenal host Liverpool on Friday night hoping to exact revenge for their humiliation at Anfield back in August.

During the Gunners’ third Premier League game of the season, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge tore Arsene Wenger’s men apart at Anfield.

Not only did the Merseyside team batter us 4-0, they completely outplayed us, with many of our men simply not showing up.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looked as if he was deliberately trying to throw the game. Just days before he completed a £40m transfer to their side. And Alexis Sanchez set the tone for the rest of his season it seems with a sloppy display.

This time, Jurgen Klopp and his men travel to north London where the Gunners’ record is far stronger.

In fact, in 25 Premier League matches away to Arsenal, Liverpool have only won seven. Saying this, they’ve drawn nine and lost the same amount, so I’m not exactly feeling confident.

Exacting revenge

Liverpool are above Arsenal in the Premier League table by just one point at the moment. Therefore, a win for the Gunners could allow them to leapfrog their opposition into fourth. However, more than that, it’s an opportunity to get revenge.

No one likes being beaten, especially by a team that went on to lose 5-0 to Manchester City the following match. If they were that bad compared to the league leaders, then what did that make us?

We need to harness that low, frustrated feeling from the defeat at Anfield and channel it towards this match. It’s not often you get a chance to make up for your mistakes but this time we do.

With Olivier Giroud limping off during Arsenal’s 1-0 Carabao Cup win over West Ham mid-week with a hamstring injury and Aaron Ramsey out until January for the same reason, Arsenal have two key players sidelined. However, the striker would have only come on in the 65th minute against Liverpool anyway. Therefore, with Jack Wilshere replacing Rambo, we should be fine.

We were strong against Newcastle until the final few minutes. We’ll need to dig far deeper than that against Liverpool. However, as we proved against Spurs, we’re capable.

Predictions
