Arsenal were reportedly one of 26 clubs watching FC Basel’s Champions League clash against Benfica on Tuesday night hoping to catch a glimpse of Dimitri Oberlin.

According to Bluewin.ch, 26 clubs attended Basel’s 2-0 win over Benfica this week, including Arsenal.

The Gunners, as well as Manchester United, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Roma, are apparently keeping an eye on FC Basel striker, Oberlin, who scored the Swiss side’s second goal in the 65th minute.

It was the eighth time the 20-year-old has found the back of the net this season, the fourth time in the Champions League and the third against Benfica. He’s also netted three in the league.

The forward is currently on loan from Red Bull Salzburg, who he signed for in 2015. Therefore, where he ends up next season depends on them. However, if he continues to impress, he’s only going to attract more attention.

Oberlin has also been capped seven times for Switzerland and scored three goals.

At the moment, it’s hard to say whether Arsenal are genuinely interested. When there’s reportedly 25 other clubs also looking to sign him, it sounds as if his agent is trying to drum up some interest. However, I could be wrong.
