Arsenal are reportedly embroiled in an eight-way battle for Red Bull Salzburg striker Dimitri Oberlin, who is currently on loan with FC Basel.

The Gunners join Juventus, AS Roma, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Napoli and Sevilla in following the 20-year-old, according to TMW.

That’s quite the list of suitors, and it’s likely largely inspired by the Swiss u21 international’s form in Europe this season.

Oberlin helped Basel qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League in second place, behind Manchester United, by scoring four goals and providing one assist in their six group stage games.

His domestic form hasn’t been quite so impressive, with four goals in 16 league and cup matches. But given the forward only turned 20 in late September, there’s still time for that to improve.

The young striker’s record for the his country’s youth teams is also noteworthy, as he’s scored three goals in seven matches for the u21s, as well as seven goals and an assist in 10 appearances with the u19s.

Whether it’s enough for Arsenal to be convinced to make a move, remains to be seen. But if the eight clubs listed above really are all interested in the player, he could well be worthy of consideration.
