Hertha Berlin youth player Dennis Jastrzembski is holding off on signing a professional contract with the club, as Arsenal try to sign the youngster.

Jastrzembski turned 17 earlier this year, which is generally when players sign professional terms for the first time.

However, CalcioMercato write that he still hasn’t signed a deal.

Reportedly, Arsenal and Manchester City are following the German, and he wants a move to North London.

This season, the Germany u17 international has performed well at youth level.

Playing as an attacking midfielder, he has four goals and six assists in 15 matches for the u19s.

You can understand why young players like Jastrzembski are keen to play for the Gunners.

Arsenal have a great reputation for giving opportunities to u23s. Four players in Thursday night’s match against Crystal Palace came through the academy.

Not only that, but youth prospects have been making debuts all season.

Matt Macey, Joe Willock, Josh Dasilva, Ben Sheaf, Reiss Nelson, Eddie Nketiah and Marcus McGuane all made their first senior Arsenal appearances this campaign. Plus, Ainsley Maitland-Niles got his first Premier League start.

The Gunners have such a talented bunch of youth prospects at the moment, it’s hard to see another player fitting in.

But if they’re impressed with the youngster’s exploits in Germany, I guess we’ll find out in January.
