Arsenal could compete with Manchester United and Tottenham for the signing of Bordeaux winger Malcom, according to reports.

Manchester United seemed to be the favourites to sign Malcom until recently, but Arsenal allegedly made an approach 11 days ago.

That’s according to Goal’s Brazilian site, Ora Bolas, who claim that Bordeaux want £44m for the 20-year-old.

They also report that Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich are showing an interest as well.

Tottenham have already submitted a £31m bid for Malcom if you believe a different report that also says Bordeaux do not want to sell in January.

Malcom joined Bordeaux from Corinthians for just £4.5m in January 2016.

Since then, the winger has made an eye-catching impression in Ligue 1, scoring 18 times in 78 appearances.

The English version of Goal’s site reports that United will make a £40m offer for him.

It seems certain that Arsenal will have to part with a huge fee if they want to sign him and that fee will only rise if he continues his great form.

Malcom is said to be yet another option for Arsenal to replace Alexis Sanchez.

He plays mostly on the left flank, but can also play on the right or down the middle.

As a young player with only a year-and-a-half’s worth of experience in Europe, he would be a risky purchase.

However, he seems to have considerable potential, and could be a special player in the future.
