Arsenal could reportedly make an approach for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, although the talented shot-stopper is worth £158m.

Arsenal have joined Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in making an approach for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

That’s according to Don Balon, who report that ter Stegen has a £158m release clause and that Barcelona do not want to sell one of their star players.

Those two facts should kill this story before it even gets started. Arsenal are being linked with goalkeepers due to Petr Cech getting older.

Ter Stegen, 25, became the first-choice goalkeeper at Barcelona after they sold Claudio Bravo to Manchester City in 2016.

They have absolutely no need to sell him unless they’ve found someone better or have received a crazy offer.

The most expensive goalkeeper in history is Manchester City’s Ederson, who they signed from Benfica for £34.7m. That record would be well-and-truly smashed if anybody paid ter Stegen’s release clause.

The German might be near the top on the list of keepers Arsenal would like to buy but being realistic, there’s very little chance a transfer is going to happen.
