You probably won’t be surprised to find out that there’s a reason Alexis Sanchez usually doesn’t look like he’s making much of an effort for Arsenal… it’s because he isn’t!

According to the Daily Mail [print edition], Arsene Wenger, Arsenal’s backroom staff and Alexis’ teammates have noticed the Chilean’s drop in effort this year and it’s causing an ‘atmosphere’.

In fact, the boss was so annoyed with the forward’s pitiful attitude that he even dropped him against Liverpool in March after an alleged training ground bust-up.

If you look at the stats, it couldn’t be clearer how little Alexis cares about genuinely helping the side.

While he’s a forward and therefore not expected to run as much as a midfielder like Granit Xhaka or ‘lazy’ Mesut Ozil, he’s running less (5.8 miles on average per 90 minutes) than Laurent Koscielny (6.5) – a 32-year-old centre-back with a dodgy Achilles!

Coincidentally, Alexis’ work rate plummeted shortly after Arsenal lost 5-1 against Bayern Munich for the second time.

It was around this time that the Times (£) claim the Chilean went back on his verbal agreement over a new contract and decided he wanted to leave.

The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City since the summer and with the January transfer window just days away, it’s pretty obvious why he suddenly remembered what a football was against Crystal Palace.

If the reports are true and Alexis’ attitude is really annoying people behind the scenes, which I can completely understand, I’d be surprised if we don’t try to shift him in January.
