Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal’s inefficiency in front of goal is cyclic, and has urged fans to ‘live with it’.

Arsenal got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Newcastle.

It was yet another game in which Arsenal produced plenty of shots. However, they could only find a way past Rob Elliot thanks to a wonder goal from Mesut Ozil.

Despite that, Wenger is happy his side are still creating chances after playing so many games in a short space of time, and believes it’s natural for his side to go through a spell of bad finishing.

“You could see that we had played three games in six days and the third game is a bit more difficult physically. Nobody else had to play Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, but I still think we had plenty of chances to score more goals,” Wenger said, as reported by World Soccer Talk.

“If you look historically, it happens every year that finishing is a bit cyclic. Sometimes you will score three or four, converting every chance, and sometimes you will have six or seven chances and score only one.

“I know that people are not happy with it, but it’s part of the game and you need to live with it.”

Arsenal have won just once in their last four Premier League games, scoring three goals in that time.

Those three goals have come from 89 shots. Obviously, not every shot will go in, but it’s still worrying that Arsenal need almost 30 efforts to convert one at present.

That’s difficult for fans to live with when it’s clearly impacting our results.

Arsenal’s finishing may go through bad periods every year, but this season there doesn’t seem to be a single attacker in decent form who will grab us a goal.

Hopefully, we’ll get over this issue during this busy winter period and enter the new year in better form.
