Arsenal are looking for yet another home win over Manchester United this weekend, but is it likely?

Another chapter in the classic Premier League rivalry will take place on Saturday evening and you have to say, the signs are looking good for Arsenal.

The Emirates Stadium has been a fortress as of late. Arsenal have won 12 successive league games there – a run which stretches back to the end of last season. In fact, the last time Arsenal lost at home in any competition was the 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich last March.

More importantly, Arsenal’s recent home record against Manchester United is decent: in their last two encounters, Arsenal have won twice and scored five goals.

Mourinho’s side have gone 10 games without a win away to the big teams, and have scored just once

Manchester United, on the other hand, will be looking to address a woeful record away to the so-called top six of the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho’s side have gone 10  games without a win away to the big teams, and have scored just once.

Mourinho revels in these types of games, but has struggled to find the right balance between stifling the opposition and trying to attack them.

All this points to Mourinho falling back on the old reliable at Arsenal and parking the bus.

He will, at least, take confidence from the fact that he knows how to beat Arsene Wenger.

This being football, there’s a possibility that several runs could come to an end at the same time. If a 13th straight home win for Arsenal seems obvious, then expect the opposite to happen.

Arsenal will be without Alexandre Lacazette after the Frenchman damaged his groin in the 5-0 win over Huddersfield. Who comes in for him is anyone’s guess.

Wenger has the option of Olivier Giroud, who scored twice when he came on Wednesday night. He could also use Danny Welbeck, who’s scored three times against United since leaving them in 2014.

As for United, they have doubts over Phil Jones and Nemanja Matic, but will otherwise have their best players available. They’re coming off a scrappy win against Brighton and a convincing win over Watford in mid-week.

Their most in form player currently is, of all people, Ashley Young. Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku has scored just once in his last ten games. Naturally, we’ll be hoping that doesn’t improve on Saturday evening.

A win for Arsenal would put them just one point behind United in the table, and would be their fourth league win on the bounce.

Defeat, though, could see the gap between the two sides stretch to seven points.

We’ve been on a good run and are starting to enjoy ourselves again, so let’s hope we keep that up with another great win.
