Alexandre Lacazette and Harry Kane are different strikers, but both are desperate to score goals, according to Ian Wright.

On the surface, there’s not a lot in common between Alexandre Lacazette and Harry Kane. The Tottenham striker is larger, slower and shoots from anywhere. It works for him, as his goalscoring record over the years can attest to.

Lacazette, on the other hand, is shorter, quicker and takes a conservative approach to shot selection. His shot volume isn’t high, but any shots he does take tend to hit the target. Ian Wright acknowledges these differences, but believes they share one important trait.

“I rate Harry Kane very highly. He seems one of the forwards now in the current day who is literally a goal monster,” Wright said, as reported by the Metro.

“He wants to score every single attempt he has on goal. When you try to compare his goalscoring rate and wonder how many goals he will end up with… if he stays in the Premier League I believe he will run Alan Shearer’s 260 record very close.

“Kane and Lacazette are two totally different goalscorers but in common they both are just desperate to score and hit the target regularly.

“If you’ve got that as a striker then you’ll score lots of goals. They are different types in the way they move and the way they play but they’re both fantastic.”

Lacazette has made a good start to his Arsenal career, with six goals in 11 games. He was in good form for France during the international break, as he netted both of their goals in 2-2 draw with Germany. He’ll be looking to take that form into the North London derby on Saturday.

Kane, meanwhile, has picked up where he left off from last season. He has 13 goals in 14 games for Spurs this season. He sat out the international break with an apparent injury, but will be fit and ready to play on Saturday, I would guess.
