Theo Walcott could miss tonight’s Europa League meeting with FC Cologne game due to illness.

The 28-year-old would have been a certain starter if not for an illness he picked up last weekend.

According to the Evening Standard, Walcott was assessed at the Arsenal training ground before they flew off to Germany for their game against Cologne. He’s been ever-present in the cup competitions this season, and has two Europa League goals to his name.

Walcott was due to be on the bench against Tottenham last Saturday, but was absent due to this illness. Arsene Wenger has said he’ll bring an experienced squad to the game.

The Englishman’s absence may be mitigated by the returns of Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud, who weren’t fit enough to play last Saturday.

Elsewhere, David Ospina could also make his return following a groin injury. The Standard reports that Wenger has yet to decide whether to start the Colombian so soon after his recovery, or to give Matt Macey another go.

Macey filled in for Ospina during the Carabao Cup game against Norwich and the Europa League game against Red Star Belgrade.

Arsenal have already qualified for the Europa League knockout rounds, and are now looking to win the group.
