Just in case you had any doubts over Arsenal’s current first choice back three, here’s a stat that proves Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal should always start together.

Whenever Kos, Mustafi and Monreal have started together as Arsenal’s back three in the Premier League this season, they’ve kept a clean sheet.

The Gunners have managed to score seven goals against Bournemouth, West Brom, Chelsea and Tottenham yet haven’t conceded a single one – no easy task considering two of those sides are considered top teams plus, of course, Spurs and Chelsea.

Jokes aside, these three experienced defenders aren’t just solid personally, they understand their teammates and how the game works.

Although Kos has seemed off the pace for the past season and a half, he’s still been solid, Monreal is Mr. Reliable and when Mustafi turns it on, like he did against Tottenham, he’s an exceptional defender.

Obviously, and sadly, it’s not always possible to start all three together.

Kos has a dodgy Achilles, that tends to restrict his playing time, while Mustafi has only just returned from a hamstring injury.

However, if we can keep them fit and as consistent as Nacho, it will certainly be a huge help this season.
