Arsenal have been dealt bad news after Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says Harry Kane will be fit for the North London derby, despite the striker pulling out of the England squad.

When it was announced that Harry Kane was withdrawing from the England friendlies against Germany and Brazil, many Arsenal fans rolled their eyes and joked that he would be fit and ready when the club action comes back around.

According to Pochettino, they were right. The Spurs manager said: “Harry Kane is okay. You can see in the last game he received a kick to his knee but he will be available for the next game,” reports Daily Star.

“The most important thing is that the national teams, including England, understand the needs of our players and help them so they will be fit when they return here.”

Seems to me that Kane’s priorities are pretty clear: The England game is too risky but the Spurs one is worth the gamble. Of course, you won’t hear that in the mainstream publications, not about a striker who plays for the English media’s favourite club.

Kane joins Alli in pulling out of England duty ahead of the Arsenal game, and Dele is set to be fit for the derby match as well. Which is all very convenient for them.

Arsenal may have an English striker of their own returning after the international break, as Danny Welbeck recovers from his second strain of the season. It remains to be seen whether he is risked, or if the lineup is more similar to the one that set up against Manchester City.
