Emmanuel Petit believes Tottenham are better than Arsenal now, and will try to humiliate them at the Emirates.

The former Arsenal midfielder was looking ahead to the North London derby after the international break. He feels the game has extra importance due to Arsenal’s need to bounce back from the defeat at Manchester City.

However, Petit knows it’ll be a tough game against a Spurs team who are better than Arsenal are at the moment. “Tottenham are better than Arsenal, and have been for quite a while, so it will be a tough game,” he said in his column for Paddy Power.

“Arsenal will need to show character. Spurs will go at Arsenal; they’ll try to humiliate the Gunners at home. The Arsenal fans need a message from their players in response.”

Tottenham seem to having yet enough good season. Although they’re eight points off leaders Manchester City, they’ve made progress in the Champions League by beating Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

Despite their good form, however, they’re only four points ahead of Arsenal in the table. The Gunners lost their fourth game of the season on Sunday. Frankly, we didn’t even come close to beating Manchester City.

Still, we’ve managed to win six games and score just as many goals Spurs have, although Arsenal haven’t won a North London derby in the Premier League since 2014, when Tomas Rosicky belted in an early winning goal.

At home, we haven’t lost to Spurs since Harry Redknapp’s side came away with a 3-2 win in 2011. The last three encounters at home have ended in 1-1 draws. Arsenal are overdue a win against them.
