Ray Parlour believes Walcott can break his appearance record but he needs to get back into the first-team.

Walcott has made 267 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, and is 66 appearances away from equalling Ray Parlour’s record of 333. At 28, Walcott has plenty of time remaining to get those 66 appearances.

However, he’s far from a first-team regular these days, and has been limited to Carabao Cup and Europa League appearances. Parlour believes Walcott shouldn’t give any thought to the record and just focus on winning back his spot in the team.

“He shouldn’t be thinking about the record though, he should be thinking about getting back in the team because he’s not been playing,” Parlour told AskFans.

“Theo has got his opportunities in Europe, but he needs to play in the Premier League. All he can do is keep playing well. At times he can be bit hit and miss, but at his age he should be playing regularly in the Premier League.”

Parlour went on to claim that he feels Walcott could leave Arsenal at the end of the season should his situation not improve.

“He’ll maybe look at it at the end of the season and see. At his age he has to be playing, whether it’s with Arsenal or somewhere else. It will be interesting to see what happens with Theo.”

Walcott has three goals this season, but they’ve all come in cup competitions. He’s yet to start a game in the Premier League, and has only come off the bench three times.

His performances this season have been very underwhelming. He doesn’t look like a player who’s pushing for a spot in the Premier League team, in my opinion.

Having been at Arsenal for 11 years, it feels like his time at the club could soon be coming to an end. Walcott has scored 107 goals in 397 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions.
