Ozil: I’m really happy

Shokdran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil were delighted with the performance against Tottenham.

The pair put in fantastic individual performances as Arsenal ended the first North London Derby of the season 2-0 over Tottenham.

Speaking after the game, Mustafi said he had been involved in better performances, but was happy with how the team performed in such a big derby.

Asked if he had been involved in better performances, Mustafi said: “I think so. I think we have, since I joined, we’ve had a few good performances. The important thing is to keep it up. Today was a derby, which is always a special game. We showed character and were there in all the important moments. When you do that, you win games.”

Ozil, meanwhile, was awarded man of the match for his excellent and industrious display, and said that he enjoyed playing with Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette.

“On the pitch, I just think about the team. I gave my all, and at the end of the day we won the game, I’m really happy,” Ozil said.

“I really enjoy playing with Lacazette and Alexis – they are always dangerous and can always score. Alexis showed his quality today.”

Arsenal took the lead when Mustafi headed in an Ozil free-kick. The defender claimed he always believed he would score, because of the quality of Ozil’s delivery.

“If you have players who can put the ball in like, you go in with belief. That’s the most important thing when you go up on corners and free-kicks. If you believe you can score, there’s an opportunity there to score.”

Arsenal may have also benefited from some questionable refereeing decisions. Mustafi, though, believes that every team gets good and ball calls, and things even out in the end.

“We always gets things against us, thing for us, but at the end of you, you get a draw. In the end, it’s fair.”

Alexis Sanchez doubled Arsenal’s lead before half-time, and set Arsenal on the way to a very sweet victory.
