Olivier Giroud insists that he has no regrets over choosing to stay at Arsenal this summer.

Giroud is yet to make a Premier League start this season but insists he doesn’t regret deciding to stay at Arsenal.

“For the moment I am not questioning myself about my future,” Giroud said after scoring for France on against Wales in a friendly match on Friday.

“I am happy at Arsenal and I am fine with the decision to stay because I want to. I am thinking that the story between the club and myself is not over and not finished.

“I keep believing in my quality and I keep the faith. I have a lot of objectives with Arsenal and my country so I always try to move forward and keep scoring.”

The striker previously revealed that he was close to signing for Everton during the transfer window, but something in his ‘heart and soul’ told him to stay put.

The Toffees were reportedly willing to pay £20m for the 31-year-old, who has under two years left on his current contract with Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has barely featured the France international in the Premier League, using him sparingly off the bench most weeks, which makes you question what Giroud really thought was going to change.

And with Arsenal spending a club record £52m on Alexandre Lacazette, coupled with Giroud only making 11 Premiership starts last season, did he think playing time was going to improve?

What’s worse for the 31-year-old, is that when Wenger does remember the big guy exists and gives him game time, Giroud is now struggling for goals and confidence.

He’s only scored once in the Premier League this season and that was against Leicester on the opening day. His other two goals have been in the Europa League and one was a penalty.

On top of this, Giroud appears to have picked up a thigh injury while away with the France national team. If he’s sidelined, this gives him even less of a chance to prove himself.

Therefore, while the former Montpellier striker claims he doesn’t regret his decision to stay at Arsenal, I doubt he’ll turn down the chance to move if the situation presents itself again.
