Charlie Nicholas claims that if Arsenal receive a huge offer for either Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez in January, the club will allow them to leave.

Despite Arsene Wenger insisting that Ozil and Alexis won’t be going anywhere in January, Nicholas reckons that they might if a club like Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain comes in with a special offer.

“I think you believe him in principle but you don’t know,” the ex-Arsenal forward said.

“If PSG or Real Madrid or somebody’s going to come in and make a bid for Alexis Sanchez, you have to listen to the money.

“Arsenal have got lots of money, but they still have to listen to that.

“I’ve still got a feeling that they’ve got a better chance of re-signing Ozil, if it’s feasible.

“I don’t see another contract for Sanchez but if the right money comes in, £20million, £25m, Arsenal have to think about it.”

It should be noted that while the boss claims he doesn’t want either star to leave in January, something ‘unbelievable’ might happen to change his mind.

“As long as they are here, they give their best for the club,” said the boss during his pre-Huddersfield presser.

“In my head, they stay until the end of the season. Unless something unbelievable happens I don’t see that changing.”

This most likely means that while the club aren’t in any rush to cash in on Ozil or Alexis, like Nicholas says, if a big team comes in with a massive offer, we might find it hard to refuse.

I would also assume that Arsenal would rather sell to a club like Real Madrid or PSG in January and have at least a little control over where their best players go, than allow them to run down their contracts and sign for a rival like Manchester City or United in the summer.

We don’t want to sell to a rival, let alone our star players, so if we can offload them and prevent that happening at all, I’m sure we won’t say no.
