More statistics have emerged following Germany v England’s 0-0 draw on Friday evening that prove Mesut Ozil isn’t the lazy player the media insist on labeling him when he plays for Arsenal.

Pundits and commentators were full of praise for Ozil after his performance for Germany against England on Friday.

However, while he was brilliant for his country during the friendly match, he didn’t actually do any more than he does for Arsenal on a regular basis. This suggests that, once again, the 29-year-old only seems to be ‘lazy’ to some when he’s wearing red and white.

According to the Sun, Ozil has completed the most sprints in the Premier League this season: 82. That’s one more than Aaron Ramsey in second place and an average of nine per match.

Rambo and Ozil are the only two players to make more than 80 sprints so far this term.

What’s more, if you compare Ozil’s stats from the Germany v England match, they’re not dissimilar to his performance stats for the Gunners against Everton last month. In fact, he was actually better going forward against the Toffees.

Not only did Ozil score and assist against Ronald Koeman’s now former side, he made EIGHT key passes. He only made one for Germany.

The midfielder also won an aerial duel and a tackle against the Blues. Against the Three Lions, he won neither and while he completed 94% of his passes compared to 89% during Arsenal’s 5-2 win over Everton, can I just repeat: EIGHT key passes.

It’s clear that when Ozil plays for Arsenal, some pundits like to pretend that he’s a complete flop and when he represents Germany, he’s a genius, when actually his stats tell a similar story for both.
