Nacho Monreal has no doubts about Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s commitment to the club.

There have been reports all season long about the commitment of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Such speculation was inevitable, given that the two are out of contract in the summer and have yet to extend their deals.

While people have taken turns claiming that the pair had already checked out of Arsenal and are just going through the motions, Nacho Monreal feels the opposite.

The defender has said the topic of the pair leaving has never come up with the players, and that the two are very much committed to the cause.

“The feeling is that they will continue. At no time have we talked about the possibility of them leaving. Not at all,” Monreal said, as reported by Sports Illustrated.

“They are committed to the group and we will see what happens. I can’t say much about it. It does not depend on me. The situation is clear. They are two vital players for Arsenal. They are two players who end their contracts at the end of the season.”

Ozil and Alexis certainly showed they were still willing to fight for the club in the 2-0 win over Tottenham.

In a performance that required a lot of work and effort off the ball, neither of them were found wanting.

They’ve not had the best of seasons so far, but that performance was hugely encouraging.

They must now replicate that a few more times before they leave the club.

Time will tell if Arsenal will look to keep them until the end of the season, or if they’ll cash in on one or both of them in January.
