Paul Merson thinks Arsenal will ease to a 3-0 win over Huddersfield on Wednesday.

Merson gave his prediction to Sky Sports ahead of the game, and pointed out Huddersfield’s contrasting fortunes home and away as a key factor in Arsenal getting such a comfortable result.

“A good result for Arsenal at Burnley, I thought that was a great result to go there, which is a hard place, and dig in and win.

“And I thought Huddersfield did great against Man City. I am going to go 3-0 to Arsenal as away from home, Huddersfield are a lot different to what they are at home – Bournemouth beat them 4-0 at home.”

Arsenal tend to do pretty well against the promoted sides, especially at home, as we saw in the 2-0 win against Brighton earlier in the campaign.

But from past experience, it would be completely within the realms of possibility for the Gunners to go and beat two sides in the top seven of the table and then lose to a side five points clear of the relegation zone.

As a side note, Merson predicted Arsenal to score three against Burnley at the weekend (Arsenal won 1-0) and tipped Manchester City to get a 4-0 win against Huddersfield (Man City won 2-1), so he might be a bit optimistic how the two sides are doing compared to each other at the moment.

The Gunners are also unlikely to field the same team as they did at the weekend, considering they have to navigate three matches in seven days. Many players may be coming off the back of a loss to FC Köln, rather than an encouraging late win over Burnley.

Hopefully those players can use that as motivation to perform on this occasion.
