Lorient president Loic Fery claims that Laurent Koscielny wants to end his career at his former club in France.

Kos, who signed for Arsenal in 2010, has apparently informed  Loic Fery of his desire to move back to Lorient one day. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to return to France before his contract with Arsenal has run out in 2020.

“He told me last week in London that he wanted to finish his career at Lorient,” said Fery during an interview with Canal+.

The centre-back recently gave an interview in which he claimed he wanted to play for Arsenal for years to come, saying, “I don’t think about if I will stop in one year or two years. I know I need to play like this for the end of my career but I want to play more and more years for Arsenal.

While Kos has announced that he’ll retire from playing international football for France after next year’s World Cup in Russia, the 32-year-old seems pretty adamant that he’s not giving up club football just yet.

The defender is currently battling an ongoing Achilles problem, which he receives daily treatment for. Therefore, by giving up international football, he’ll have less fixtures during the season, giving him more time to rest.

While it’s likely that Kos does want to return to Lorient and end his career there, nothing that Fery or the centre-back have said suggests that this will be an immediate move. Hopefully, he stays in north London until at least the end of his current deal before he decides to have one final contract with his former club.
