Stephy Mavididi missed out on Preston North End’s match through injury, but Takuma Asano and Lucas Perez both featured at the weekend.

Mavididi’s luck continues to be out on his loan spell in Preston. For a while, the 19-year-old struggled to get into the team, while many of the youth prospects back at Arsenal were making their senior debuts for the Gunners.

Finally it seemed like he was getting a chance, with consecutive starts against Bolton and Bristol, only to fall injured.

The injury ruled Stephy out of the match against Norwich, but hopefully it’s not as serious as the injury he picked up at Charlton last season, which forced him to return to the Gunners.

Takuma Asano scored his first goal for Stuttgart on Friday, in a 1-1 draw against Hannover. You can watch the goal in our report. Asano has been given plenty of chances to get going, now he just needs to try and put a run together.

Lucas Perez played the full 90 minutes as Deportivo La Coruna drew 2-2 with Athletic Bilbao. However, Lucas wasn’t involved in the goals on this occasion, despite contributing to five in the previous six matches.

Kelechi Nwakali was an unused substitute for VVV-Venlo, while Carl Jenkinson (Birmingham City) and Joel Campbell (Real Betis) missed out on their matches through injury.

Cohen Bramall (Birmingham City) and Marc Bola (Bristol Rovers) missed out for unspecified reasons. Bola now hasn’t played since mid-October. Bramall’s situation is even worse, as he hasn’t played since August, and hasn’t even made the squad since September.

I’d imagine he’s the closest to returning to Arsenal in January, if that’s possible under the terms of his contract.
