Liverpool are trying to beat Arsenal to the signing of Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, according to reports.

The Daily Star claim that Jurgen Klopp is willing to spend £5m on the youngster, but Arsenal and Spurs are also interested. Meanwhile, Wolves know they can’t give him a new and improved contract until he turns 18 towards the end of January.

Gibbs-White recently won the u17 World Cup with England, alongside Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe. In fact, the midfielder scored in the final, as the Young Lions made a comeback from 2-0 down to win 5-2 against Spain.

The midfielder has made the bench for the Championship club’s first-team this season, but is yet to appear in the current campaign. However, last season Morgan appeared 12 times for the senior side, even making six starts, despite his age.

The u17 World Cup has limited his chances of getting involved again this season so far, but we’ll see whether that changes over the coming month-and-a-half, before the January transfer window opens.

Arsenal already have a number of talented youngsters coming through the academy, including midfielders like Joe Willock, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Marcus McGuane.

So I wouldn’t expect the Gunners to be too desperate, unless Gibbs-White really impresses over the next six or seven weeks.
